Sarah Yakir has taught privately for the past 10 years. Besides a private studio in New York, she has held masterclasses in Germany, Canada, and Boston. As a Community Performance and Partnership Program Fellow at the New England Conservatory for two consecutive years, Sarah has performed and led masterclasses and workshops for elementary and middle school children around Boston. While living in New York, Sarah was a guest speaker and workshop leader at Public School 51’s Arts Middle School, where she encouraged 6th and 7th grade math classes to explore the similarities between music and math.
Sarah teaches students of all ages, and abilities. Her teaching method incorporates components from her musical education; Delcroz, Alexander Technique, and The Leopold Auer school. The most important thing that Sarah hopes to inspire in her students is a love and appreciation for music.
A deeply sensitive and sincere musician, Sarah is dedicated to bringing an authentic and committed performance experience to audiences around the world. She has performed in more than 20 countries and her music has been broadcast on U.S., Canadian, Swedish, Swiss, Polish, German and Belgian television and radio.
Sarah attended New York's Special Music School for musically gifted children and studied in Europe with world renowned pedagogue, Zakar Bron. She now attends New England Conservatory’s graduate program where her principal teachers are Donald Weilerstein and Soovin Kim.
