“With art comes vulnerability, and it is crucial to create a safe and accepting environment in the classroom to encourage that vulnerability. Mistakes are a part of learning, and as a teacher I must not only accept them but encourage them. I never want to make a student feel inferior for not knowing something or singing the incorrect notes. I want to encourage my students every step of the way and give them the support system for when they make mistakes.”
